British Columbia Golf is the governing body for amateur golf in the province of British Columbia, Canada. We are dedicated to fostering the growth, development, and promotion of golf across the region. BC Golf is committed to organizing and conducting high-quality championships and events, which serve as platforms for competition, development, and community engagement.

OVERVIEW
British Columbia Golf is seeking a motivated and creative individual to support the Marketing and Communications team throughout the championship season. This individual will act as an ambassador for British Columbia Golf within the communities hosting our competitions and participation programs and be responsible for promoting the British Columbia Golf brand, as well as the game of golf.

Successful individuals will help conduct and showcase British Columbia Golf’s Provincial Championships and other related activities. They will meet and interact with many people, including (but not limited to) the following: future players of the PGA and LPGA Tours, members of the British Columbia Golf Board of Directors and Zone Council, PGA of Canada members (professionals & general managers), and golf course superintendents.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about storytelling, content creation, and digital media. The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing BC Golf’s events and initiatives to life through engaging and timely content across social media, web, and video platforms.

The intern will attend select championships and events throughout the province as necessary to capture content, tell athlete stories and showcase the BC Golf brand, while also contributing to ongoing digital communications projects.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1.    Content Creation & Digital Communications (Primary Focus)

Event Content Capture & Storytelling

  • Attend select BC Golf championships and events to capture photo and video content
  • Create real-time and post-event content, including social media posts, stories, and recaps
  • Conduct on-site interviews with athletes, participants, and stakeholders
  • Identify and tell compelling stories that highlight players, pathways, and community
  • Other duties may include live scoring, supporting written event recaps, player features, etc.

Social Media Management

  • Support the day-to-day management of BC Golf’s social media platforms
  • Create and publish engaging content (posts, stories, reels) across Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms
  • Monitor engagement and contribute ideas to grow reach and audience interaction
  • Ensure social media and communication requirements for sponsors and strategic partners are fulfilled

Digital Content Production

  • Assist in the creation of written content including event recaps, player features, and website updates
  • Assist in the design of simple promotional materials and digital assets as needed
  • Support the development and maintenance of an annual content calendar, helping to plan, schedule, and align content across social media and digital platforms

2.    Content Organization & Media Management Photo & Video Management

  • Organize and catalogue event photos and videos in BC Golf’s internal systems
  • Ensure accurate tagging, naming, and storage of athlete and event content
  • Maintain and improve the accessibility of BC Golf’s media library

YouTube & Video Platform Management

  • Support the organization and optimization of BC Golf’s YouTube channel
  • Assist in uploading, tagging, titling, and structuring video content for improved visibility and consistency

3.    Brand & Partnership Support

  • Support the execution of sponsor and partner deliverables through digital content
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communications and platforms
  • Always Represent British Columbia Golf in a professional and positive manner Other duties or special assignments as required
     
    HOURS OF WORK
  • Standard work weeks during non-event periods
  • Event days may require early mornings, extended hours, and possible weekend work
  • Travel to select events across the province will be required
  • Compensating time off will be provided following event periods

TOURNAMENT TRAVEL

  • All staff travel across the Province via British Columbia Golf’s vehicles
  • Travel distances between championships vary depending on travel schedule
  • Accommodation and meals (or per diem) during championships covered by British Columbia Golf

COMPENSATION

  • $750, weekly salary

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

  • University or college student in marketing, communications, media, or related field
  • Strong interest in content creation, social media, and digital storytelling
  • Experience creating content for Instagram (posts, stories, reels)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Comfortable being on-site and capturing content in a live event environment
  • Confidence in interviewing athletes or participants on camera
  • Highly organized with attention to detail (especially in managing media files)
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
  • Experience with photo/video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.) is an asset
  • Willingness to travel and to work flexible work hours and during inclement weather conditions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, stakeholders, and the public in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment
  • Must be able to attend the British Columbia Golf office as required and some work from home days may be possible
  • Golf knowledge or experience is not required but would be an asset; a passion and interest in the game of golf and in British Columbia Golf’s mission is, however, required

Note: British Columbia Golf’s regular hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, namely Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours a day and 5 days a week. Pay is based on a $20/hour wage. When on-site at tournaments, the hours may be more. The demands of this position mean that your hours of work will vary, may be irregular, and will be the hours required to meet the objectives of your employment. In lieu of overtime, compensating time off will be provided during non-tournament weeks.
