| In this edition of the British Columbia Golf newsletter, we’re featuring our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan and the direction it establishes for the years ahead. At the heart of the plan is a consideration of where BC Golf can be most useful, how we can better support the people and organizations contributing to golf across the province, and what it will take to make a meaningful difference in the years ahead. Guided by our Vision to increase participation and enjoyment of the sport and our Mission to be a valued partner in growing Golf, a sport for life, the plan was developed through the work of BC Golf’s Board and staff, informed by broader consultation and perspectives from across the provincial golf community. We encourage you to explore the full plan, including the priorities that will guide our work and the thinking behind them. At the same time, BC Golf is seeking a new Manager of Finance and Administration. This is a hands-on, sole-charge role, ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants to see the impact of their work. The link to the posting can be seen below. Meanwhile, Kimberley, BC's Jared du Toit has made the decision to pursue a different path after a decade-long attempt trying to a establish a career in professional golf. The former BC Junior and BC Amateur winner spoke with Brad Ziemer looking at both the great memories he made and just what might lie ahead in the next chapter for him. Brad also checked in with Abbotsford's Nick Taylor following Nick's debut as a member of the International Team in last month's Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club in Chicago. Taylor proved to be a valuable addition to the team that came so close to upsetting the American side. In an additional interview, Ziemer chatted with former UBC Thunderbird golf standout, Cory Renfrew, as Cory has returned to UBC to lead the Thunderbird's golf program. The BDO National Golf League saw 6 teams from BC qualify for the championship finals. Competing in a net best-ball Stableford format, teams played for an all-expenses-paid trip to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley next June, where they will compete in the national final during the week of the RBC Canadian Open. Lastly, BC Golf is very sad to report the passing of longtime Volunteer and Rules Official Lynn Benedictson. A tribute to Lynn can be found in this newsletter. |
