| In this edition of the British Columbia Golf newsletter, Brad Ziemer has championship coverage of the 124th playing of the BC Amateur. The BC Am was held this year for the first time at a Municipally-run golf course and the Riverway GC in Burnaby received rave reviews from the players and those who attended as part of the week-long Burnaby Golf Festival. The BC Amateur was an exciting affair that required a 3-man playoff to decide the winner as well as a playoff to determine the final spots on the provincial team for this year's Canadian Championship. The BC Women's Amateur was held at Chilliwack GC where Amy Lee completed the 'three-peat' as she took her 3rd consecutive Women's Amateur title. Brad Ziemer also has a great story on BC Women's Am competitor Rebecca Kim and her fascinating educational journey en route to medical school which she balances with her golf while maintaining high grades in both endeavours. We have wrap-ups for two other provincial championships including the BC Junior Boys and Junior Girls championships held at Nk'Mip and Pentiction GC respectively. Staying with success stories, Langley, BC's Clairey Lin became the second Canadian in consecutive years to claim the U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur crown, winning at the Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, N.C. It marked the first time in USGA history that back-to-back champions have come from Canada in any championship. After over two decades of service, BC Golf’s Managing Director of Player Development, Debbie Pyne, has retired.
