PORTLAND, Ore. – With four individual titles this season, Simon Fraser junior Chris Crisologo of Richmond was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team. Crisologo was joined by teammate Kevin Vigna of Coquitlam, who was named to the 2016-17 GNAC Men’s Golf All-Conference Second Team.

Crisologo put together his most dominant season to date for his second consecutive GNAC Player of the Year award, finishing in the top 10 at seven of nine tournaments. The junior also finished in the top three among GNAC athletes at all but one event this year, before wrapping up the season with titles at the NNU Invitational and the GNAC Championships.

Crisologo leads the conference with a 71.2 strokes per round average and has carded scores under par in 16 of 25 rounds. At the GNAC Championships, he shot a 5-under-par 208 to capture his first conference title with an even-par 71 in the final round to win by two shots.

Vigna was an All-Conference First Team selection each of his first three years at Simon Fraser. This season, the senior averaged 74.9 strokes per round and his best finish was 10th at the InterWest Wildcat Classic.

Crisologo will compete in the NCAA Division II West/South Central Super Regional, which will be held this year in Stockton, California on May 8-10 at the Brookside Golf Course in Stockton. The tournament features 20 teams and eight individuals with 10 teams from the West Region and 10 teams from the South Central Region.

Last year, Crisologo finished in a tie for 17th place at the Super Regional, which was held in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 22-26, at Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida.
