BC's Hadwin Moves To No. 3 In Golf Canada Pro Rankings

Abbotsford's Adam Hadwin Has Moved Into The Number 3 Position In Canada Among The Professional Men

BC Golfers are once again prominent among those ranked nationally in Golf Canada's Weekly Top-10 rankings. Led by Abbotsford natives Adam Hadwin (3) and Nick Taylor (5), BC has 4 of the top 10 ranked male pro golfers in Canada. Hadwin and Taylor are followed closely by Merritt's Roger Sloan at no. 7 and Surrey's Adam Svensson in 9th spot.

There are 3 BC women in the top 10 of the female pro rankings including Samantha Richdale of Kelowna (6) along with Jessica Wallace (7) and Sue Kim of Langely (8) while Kimberley's Jared du Toit continues to be the number one ranked amateur male in the country. He is joined in the the top 10 by fellow BCer's Lawren Rowe of Victoria (4) and Richmond's Chris Crisologo (7).

Victoria's Naomi Ko is the top ranked BC player among female amateurs occupying the number 2 spot in the country, while Surrey's Michelle Kim holds down the number 5 position.

MEN’S TOP-10

Adam Hadwin has replaced Graham DeLaet as the No. 3 ranked pro in Canada. Hadwin gained a place in the world rankings while DeLaet slipped two spots.

Outside the Top-10, Derek Gillespie rises two spots, up to No. 22 in the Canadian rankings.

Four Canadians have gained entry to the Web.com Tour for 2017, led by Ben Silverman. He finished in a tie for sixth, birdying three of his last five holes. He is guaranteed a spot in the first 12 events of the 2017 season.

Ryan Yip finished tied for 23rd, Justin Shin of Maple Ridge was tied for 35th and Corey Conners was tied for 42nd. All three will have the first eight events of the Web.com season to earn some money before the first reshuffle, which will then determine how many more events they compete in throughout the season.

WOMEN’S TOP-10

After two weeks at No. 7, Brooke Henderson slipped a spot back to No. 8 in the world rankings.

Three other players within the Top-10 all made positive gains, including Canadian No. 2 Alena Sharp, who picked up one spot in the world rankings.

No. 5 Anne-Catherine Tanguay made the biggest move, picking up two spots while No. 9 Brittany Marchand moved up one place.

Outside the Top-10, Elizabeth Tong – the No. 14 ranked player in Canada – made the biggest move of the week, picking up five places in the world rankings. Vivian Tsui and Kelowna's Kyla Inaba were next, picking up four spots.

MEN’S AMATEUR TOP-10

With the Christmas break in full effect, very little movement among the Top-10 – only top ranked Canadian Jared du Toit of Kimberley, BC and No. 4 Victoria, BC's Lawren Rowe made positive gains, each picking up one spot in the world rankings.

Outside the Top-10, Travis Fredborg returns to the Top-20 for the first time in six weeks, climbing seven places in the world rankings.

Biggest move: Conaire Kehoe gained 123 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 40th at the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship. The Calgary golfer who is in his first year with the UBC Thunderbirds golf team, making his collegiate debut as an individual golfer at the Western Washington University Invitational, where he finished tied for 72nd.

WOMEN’S AMATEUR TOP 10

Positive gains across the board for almost every member of the Top-10. Top ranked Maddie Szeryk maintained her world No. 32 ranking while Golf Canada Development Squad team member Chloe Currie led the way, gaining six spots. No. 7 Valerie Tanguay and No. 8 Grace St-Germain were next, picking up four places.

Outside the Top-10, Rachel Pollock picked up seven places to rejoin the Top-20 for the first time in 19 weeks.

Biggest Move: Sydney Naro gained 31 spots in the world rankings after finishing 16th at the SICC/DBS Junior Invitational in Singapore. A few weeks before, she posted a tie for 19th at the SINGHA Thailand Junior World Championship.
