B.C.’s Lawren Rowe Moves Up 158 Spots To No. 5 In Canada

Lawren Rowe continued his upward movement inside the Top-10, picking up another 158 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for sixth at the Western Washington Invitational. The result enabled the third year golfer at the University of Victoria move up to the No. 5 ranking in Canada. Over the course of the last two weeks, Rowe has gained 699 spots in the world rankings.

Provincial rival Chris Crisologo moved back into the Top-10, gaining 26 spots in the world rankings after winning the WWU Invitational. The Simon Fraser University golfer picked up his first win of the season as he jumped up to the No. 9 ranking in Canada.

Outside the Top-10, Andrew Harrison made it a British Columbia trifecta. The UBC golfer gained 29 spots in the world rankings after finishing runner-up to Crisologo, the third-straight tournament he has paced the Thunderbirds who captured the team title for the third time in the last four years.

Biggest move: Jaxon Lynn gained 1,076 spots in the world rankings after finishing third at The Jackrabbit. The result is a career-best for the Sylvan Lake, Alberta golfer, who is a sophomore at South Dakota State.

Sophie Liu gained 160 spots after finishing in a tie for 33rd at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The freshman from Vancouver who plays golf at Iowa recorded collegiate personal bests for 18-holes and 54-holes. The result helped move her into the Top-10 in Canada, up from No. 14.

Valerie Tanguay made the second biggest gain among the Top-10, picking up 19 spots in the world rankings after finishing 17th at The Schooner Fall Classic.

Biggest Move: Julia Henderson gained 180 spots in the world rankings after finishing seventh at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. The New Glasgow, Nova Scotia golfer is a former provincial amateur champion and currently a junior at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina.

With the Ryder Cup competition, it was a quiet week for most professional golfers. David Hearn gained three places in the world rankings, moving up to No. 114 in the world. That leaves Hearn five places better than when he started the year.

Other notable results: No. 8 Richard T. Lee missed the cut at co-sanctioned Asian Tour/Korean Tour event.

Augusta James made the biggest move among the Top-10, picking up 40 places in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for second at the Symetra Tour event in Arkansas. It was her seventh top-10 result of the year and third in the last five tournaments. The Golf Canada Young Pro Squad member currently sits 13th on the money list – only the top-10 will earn their LPGA Tour card for next season. James also moved up from No. 6 to No. 4 in the Canadian rankings.

Anne-Catherine Tanguay gained 26 spots in the world rankings after posting her best career result on the Symetra Tour, a tie for fourth in Arkansas. It was her second top-10 result and second in the last five tournaments

Top ranked Canadian Brooke Henderson finished in a tie for fourth at the Reignwood LPGA Classic, just three strokes behind the winner. It was the 13th top-10 result of the year and sixth top-5 finish for the No. 4 ranked player in the world.

Other Notable Results: No. 2 Alena Sharp finished in a tie for 51st at LPGA event in China; No. 3 Maude-Aimee Leblanc finished in a tie for 42nd at LPGA event in China; No. 9 Brittany Marchand finished tie for 56th at Symetra Tour event; No. 10 Sara-Maude Juneau finished tied for 34th at Symetra Tour event;
