Du Toit Maintains Top Standing In Weekly Rankings

Positive movements for six of the Top-10 in Canada, while the remaining four maintained their standings, including top-ranked Jared du Toit, who begins the new collegiate season at No. 26 in the world.

Lawren Rowe gained 440 spots in the world rankings to move into the Top-20 in Canada after finishing in a tie for 23rd at the California State Fair Amateur. The University of Victoria Vike is coming off a solid summer in which he posted a runner-up finish at the Canadian University/College Championship and a tie for ninth at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship. Fellow Canadian Patrick Murphy finished third at the same event, four strokes behind the winner.

Biggest move: Christopher Kertsos picked up 1,416 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 10th at the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship.

Maddie Szeryk starts the new collegiate golf season as the top-ranked Canadian amateur, maintaining her world standing at No. 40. Josée Doyon remains No. 93 – the pair are the only Canadian players to start the new season inside the Top-100.

The remaining eight players in the Top-10 all made positive gains with No. 4 Jaclyn Lee, No. 7 Jessica Ip and No. 10 Grace St-Germain each climbing five spots in the world.

Biggest Move: Janet Zhang gained 72 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 22nd at the Navy Fall Invitational. The sophomore from Richmond, B.C., helped Pennsylvania University to a third-place finish in the opening collegiate tournament of the season.

David Hearn’s PGA Tour season came to a close after he finished in a tie for 32nd at the PGA’s BMW Championship – the third of four FedEx Cup playoff events. The result was worth 2.81 world ranking points, but was unfortunately not good enough to get him to the TOUR Championship and a shot at $10 million. Hearn’s season included two Top-10 results and more than $1.2 million in earnings. Over the past three weeks, the No. 1-ranked pro in Canada gained 25 spots in the world rankings.

Corey Conners finished tied for eighth at PGA Tour Latinoamérica’s San Luis Championship. It was the fifth Top-10 result on the South American-based tour this year for the Golf Canada Young Pro Squad member. The Listowel, Ont., product currently sits fourth on the Tour’s money list.

Other notable results: No. 6 Mackenzie Hughes finished tied 46th at Web.com Tour DAP Championship and No. 8 Adam Svensson finished T56, while No. 4 Brad Fritsch and No. 9 Roger Sloan missed the cut. No. 7 Richard T. Lee was forced to withdraw following the opening round of European Tour KLM Open.

Brittany Marchand continues to make big strides up the world rankings ladder, gaining 107 spots to move into the No. 9 spot in Canada. The former Golf Canada National Team member finished third at the Symetra Tour event in Kansas for her third Top-10 result of the season and her second in the past three tournaments. Since making her Canadian ranking debut back in April, the former NC State standout has gained 542 spots in the world.

One other change in the Top-10 saw Anne-Catherine Tanguay move up to No. 5 in Canada.

Other Notable Results: No. 10 Sara-Maude Juneau finished 23rd at Symetra Tour event in Kansas, while No. 8 Jessica Wallace and No. 6 Augusta James finished T29 and T33, respectively. No. 4 Samantha Richdale and No. 7 Sue Kim missed the cut.
