About British Columbia Golf

British Columbia Golf is the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) recognized by Government and Golf Canada as the organization responsible for golf within British Columbia. The organization is non-profit operating with a volunteer board. Incorporated in 1922 British Columbia Golf has roots extending back to 1893 within the province.

Position: Manager, Golf Participation (full time)

Available: January 2016

Department: Player Development

Position Summary: British Columbia Golf is seeking candidates for the position of Manager, Golf Participation. The primary function of the Player Development Department is to promote and build the sport of golf, both from a high performance competitive perspective, as well as a recreational perspective. The Manager, Golf Participation supports this function through the creation and fulfillment of a plan to measure and increase participation in recreational golf as a “Sport for Life” for all age levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivery

  • Oversee and coordinate delivery of a Golf in Schools program throughout the province of British Columbia. This is an entry level program targeting Grades 4 to 7
  • As required, conduct the program or train and certify coaches to deliver
  • Oversee and coordinate a summer Future Links Mobile Clinic program
  • Coordinate with Allied Golf Association partners to actively promote other programs such as Take a Kid to the Course, Get Golf Ready, The First Green, Nine and Dine, and other recreational programs

Data Capture

  • Building on the initial participation study to develop a reporting mechanism whereby an inventory of all recreational golf development programs can be tracked annually
  • Working with the Manger Communications, build a section within British Columbia Golf’s website outlining where a recreational golfer can find programing to ease entry into the sport

Communications

  • In conjunction with the Manager Communications ensure that adequate coverage of recreational golf opportunities and programs are promoted in all British Columbia Golf communication vehicles (website, newsletters, general media)
  • Work with Allied Association partners to ensure that recreational golf opportunities are available for publication in their communication vehicles.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will carry a PGA designation however other combinations of skills will be considered
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access)
  • Exceptional communication skills (Written, Verbal, Telephone)

Direct Report:                Executive Director British Columbia Golf

The successful candidate will report not less than quarterly to a Recreational Golf Participation Committee of the Allied Golf Association of British Columbia. (PGA of BC, NGCOA, CSCM BC Chapters, BCGSA, WCTA, BCGMA, BC Golf). A close working relationship with the Managing Director, Player Development will also be established.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
