(November 10, 2016 – Oakville, Ont. and Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) – The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada’s 10-man team for the inaugural Aruba Cup was announced Thursday, led by four-time 2016 winner and Player of the Year Dan McCarthy.

The team, consisting of the top 10 available players on the 2016 Mackenzie Tour Order of Merit with a minimum of five Canadians, will compete against a team of 10 players to be announced from PGA TOUR Latinoamérica in a Presidents Cup-style event at Tierra del Sol Resort and Golf in Aruba, December 12-18, 2016. The three competition days will Four-ball, Foursome and Singles matches on December 15, 16 and 17, respectively.

The Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) has announced the 2016 Players of the Year. Those honoured include Men’s Player of the Year, Jared du Toit of Kimberley, B.C.; Women’s, Naomi Ko of Victoria, B.C.; Men’s Mid-Amateur, Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake, Idaho; Women’s Mid-Amateur, Amanda Jacobs of Portland, Ore.; Senior Men’s, Pat O’Donnell, Happy Valley, Ore.; Senior Women’s, Anita Wicks of Roseburg, Ore.; Junior Boys’, Spencer Tibbits of Vancouver, Wash.; and Junior Girls’, Ellie Slama of Salem, Ore.

VICTORIA - Lawren Rowe and the men's golf team took home their third championship of the young season on Tuesday, with Rowe winning the individual title to help his team secure the trophy.

The women's team moved up from eighth to sixth between Day 1 and Day 2, as Laura Ferreira and Hannah Diamond both put up rounds of 76 on the final day.

VENICE, Fla. – Four Canadians were among 84 competitors that advanced to Stage III of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament on Sunday at the Plantation Golf & Country Club.

Megan Osland of Kelowna, B.C., led all 10 Canadians in the field, finishing at 5-over par (72-72-73-76) to grab a share of 30th. Team Canada graduate and Calgary product Jennifer Ha was the next Canadian in line, closing at 7-over par (69-71-79-76) to end in a tie for 47th.

Seaside, CA – Chris Crisologo added a little more hardware to his personal trophy case on Tuesday, as the junior wrapped up a solo victory at the Otter Invitational with a terrific second day. As a whole, the SFU Clan men's golf team took fifth in the three-round event, which was hosted by the Cal State Monterey Otters at Bayonet Golf Course.

Bellingham, WA - Talk about a great start, the SFU Clan women's golf team are now two-for-two to start the 2016-17 campaign, as they shot a combined 24-over-par 608 (303, 305) to take first place at the Western Washington Invitational on Tuesday, still fresh off last weekend's win at Saint Martin's.

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Simon Fraser University women’s golf team won the rain-shortened Saint Martin’s University that concluded Saturday at the Olympia Golf & Country Club. It was the team’s first tournament of the season.

Simon Fraser claimed the title with a team-score 479 after weather conditions on the final day of the women's golf tournament forced the round be cut to nine holes on Saturday.

AUGUSTINE, Fla., USA) - World Golf Foundation (WGF) – the non-profit organization developing and supporting initiatives that positively impact lives through the game of golf and its traditional values – announces the launch of the Golf & Health Project, academically researching and highlighting how the game can benefit peoples’ lives.

Researchers at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, led by Dr. Andrew Murray and under the supervision of leading international academics, Professor Nanette Mutrie and Professor Liz Grant, have conducted the largest, most comprehensive study of golf and health, with the results shown in a Scoping Review published in the world’s leading sports medicine and science journal, The British Journal of Sports Medicine.

The 2016 Distinguised Service Award winner, as honoured by the Northwest Golf Media Association, is Tom Cade.

Cade is the long-time editor of Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine, which is published by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA). He is also the senior director of communications for the PNGA and the Washington State Golf Association.

Anita Wicks of Roseburg, Ore. shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round to come from behind first round leader Phyllis Laschuk of Vancouver, B.C. and win the 30th Pacific Northwest Senior Women’s Amateur; while Mary Ryan of Renton, Wash. put together another solid round in winning the 5th Pacific Northwest Super Senior Women’s Amateur.

Both championships were held concurrently at Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Ore. and were contested over 36 holes of stroke play. They were conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA).

BELLINGHAM, WA – On the final day of the Western Washington Men's Golf Invitational, SFU's Chris Crisologo shot a one-over 73, holding off a charging Andrew Harrison, to take his first win of the season.

VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds prevailed as the team champion for the third time in the last four years at the 45th Annual Western Washington University Men's Golf Invitational played at Bellingham Golf & Country Club, Sept. 26-27th.

The T-Birds finished with a team score of 6-under-par 858, adding the team title at the WWU Invite to winning years in 2007, 2013 and 2014. UBC posted rounds of 1-under 287 and 5-under 282 before finishing up with a 1-over 289,

Chico State was the team runner-up at 4-under (860), followed by Concordia (Ore.) (E, 864), California State Monterey Bay (+5, 869) and the University of Victoria (+5, 869).

Walla Walla, Wash. - Brad Karns of Vancouver, Wash. shot 1-under par in the final round to win the 30th Washington State Senior Men's Amateur Championship; while Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. went wire-to-wire in capturing the 9th Washington State Super Senior Men's Amateur. This is the second title for Lindbjerg, having also won this championship in 2014.

More than 200 golfers from across the United States and Canada will converge on Port St. Lucie, FL for the 2016 Special Olympics North America Golf Championship, hosted at the prestigoius and beautiful PGA Golf Club, using the Ryder and Wannamaker Courses.

One of those golfers is West Kelowna, BC's Kyle Grummett who has a Bronze medal from the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles along with the Gold medal he picked up in the 2014 Special Olympic Summer Games held in Vancouver.

Grummett was also nominated by British Columbia Golf for a 2016 Sport BC Athlete of the Year award for an athlete with a disability.

RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico – On the strength of Garrett Rank’s 69 (-2), the Canadian contingent climbed inside the Top-10 for the first time in Saturday’s final round of the 30th World Amateur Team Championship to close the tournament in a tie for ninth at 12-under par.

Playing on the Mayakoba El Camaleon Golf Club, Rank, 29, led the Canadian trio to a team score of 2-under par on the day, coupled with Jared du Toit’s even-par 71. Collectively, Rank was the leading Canadian at the event. The Elmira, Ont., product finished at 1-under par (74-72-70-69) to hold an individual share of 35th.

Kimberley, B.C., native Jared du Toit finished two strokes behind Rank at 1-over par (71-70-75-71). The 21-year-old Arizona State senior closed at T44. Teammate Hugo Bernard of Mont-St-Hilaire, Que., was disqualified because of a scoring error in his final round.

Bremerton, Wash. - At the 34th Pacific Northwest Senior Team Championships, Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. and Craig Larson of Tacoma won the Men's Senior Team title; Charlie Wozow and Toat Brandvold, both of Snohomish, Wash. won the Men's Super Senior; Jackie Little of Port Alberni, B.C. and Kathryn McGarvey of North Vancouver, B.C. won the Women's Senior; and Mary Ryan of Renton, Wash. and Sun Douthit of Steilacoom, Wash. won the Women's Super Senior.

VICTORIA, B.C. (September 20, 2016) – The 2016 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship will get underway this Friday morning at Bear Mountain Golf Resort’s Mountain Course, with 81 of the top players on PGA TOUR Champions competing for one of the year’s top purses of US$2.5 million.

Headlining one of the strongest fields of the 2016 PGA TOUR Champions season are World Golf Hall of Fame members Bernhard Langer, Vijay Singh, Colin Montgomerie, Mark O’Meara and Tom Kite.

Langer, who currently leads the Charles Schwab Cup standings with $2,432.659 in 2016 earnings, has put forth one of the strongest seasons in Tour history at the age of 59, with four wins – including major championship victories at the Regions Tradition and Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship earlier this year.

The two championships will be held consecutively on Gold Mountain's Cascade and Olympic courses, with the Women's being held September 19-21 and the Men's being held September 21-23.
