Canadians Stuart Macdonald and Albin Choi both advanced to the third and final stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying School on Friday at separate events across the United States.

Macdonald, a Team Canada graduate and Vancouver product, carded a final-round 68 (-4) to finish alone in 7th place. The Purdue University alumnus came in at 11-under par (66-75-68-68) to become the only Canadian to advance at the TPC at Craig Ranch event in McKinney, Texas.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – National Amateur Squad duo of Joey Savoie and Josh Whalen marched to an emphatic 16-stroke victory on Sunday to win the Tailhade Cup at the Los Lagartos Country Club.

The Canadians were led by Savoie of La Prairie, Que., who fired his lowest round of the tournament with a 5-under 66 en route to capturing medallist honours. The 23-year-old finished at 8 under par (69-73-68-66), two strokes ahead of runner-up Machado Herik of Brazil.

Surrey, British Columbia'a Michelle Kim picked up 15 places in the Women's Amateur World Rankings with her 3rd Top 20 result of the college season moving her into 9th place for Women Amateurs in Canada.

MEN’S AMATEUR TOP 10

Charles Corner made the biggest gain among the Top-10, picking up 50 spots in the world rankings after finishing sixth at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. It was his first top 10 result in four tournaments this fall. Corner moved up from No. 9 up to No. 7 in the Canadian rankings.

Chris Crisologo, who was named the youngest member of the Golf Canada National Team, gained 12 spots in the world rankings after finishing third at the Otter Invitational. The senior from Richmond, B.C. has finished in the top three in all four tournaments this fall.

Springfield, N.J.– Canada’s golf course superintendents cruised to victory over their American counterparts at the inaugural Can Am Cup, earning a 73-point victory at the rain-shortened event.

The Cam Am Cup is a Ryder Cup-style golf and educational event that sees golf course superintendents from Canada square off against their colleagues from the United States.

Eleven years ago, player development in this country was a long overdue idea that (finally) got some buy in.

Humble beginnings? Imagine it as the professional sports equivalent of an expansion franchise. No coaches, no players, no real structure or support mechanism at kick-off time but, hey, there was a name: Team Canada. In a hockey-infested nation, who couldn’t relate to that?

And who among us can’t relate to this concept: belief.

Daniel Campbell And Maddie Kapchinsky Take Individual Medals In Men’s & Women’s Events

If it wasn’t the greatest day in the history of the University of the Fraser Valley golf program, it was awfully close.

The Cascades completed an incredibly dominant run at the PING CCAA Golf National Championships on Friday, sweeping the men’s and women’s team competitions at Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Whitby, Ont.

Both UFV teams won their respective titles by double-digit margins, and each produced an individual medalist. Daniel Campbell was the men’s individual champ, winning by eight strokes, and Maddie Kapchinsky took the women’s silver medal.

Players from British Columbia continue to hold prominent places in the Golf Canada Top 10 Rankings Powered by RBC with Abbotsford's Nick Taylor leading the way for the professional men moving up 15 spots to number 186 in the world.

18 athletes selected to represent Team Canada’s National Amateur and Development Squads

OAKVILLE, Ont. (Golf Canada) – Golf Canada is pleased to announce the 18 athletes who have been chosen to represent Team Canada as part of the 2018 National Amateur Squad and Development Squad.

In all, eight athletes comprise Team Canada’s National Amateur Squad including four players on the men’s team and four on the women’s. The 10-member Development Squad will include five women and five men.

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced the golf All-Canadian award recipients on Monday for the 2017 season.

Twenty student-athletes (10 women, 10 men) were selected ahead of this week’s national championship at Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Ashburn, Ont.

INVERNESS, Nova Scotia (PGA of Canada) — As if it were scripted, the RBC PGA Scramble presented by The Lincoln Motor Company National Final came down to a nerve-inducing putt.

Needing to make a four-foot par putt for the win on the final hole at Cabot Links, team Cordova Bay amateur player Rodney Webber stepped up and made the biggest putt of his life.

Following an extensive search of accomplished business and marketing leaders, the PGA of Canada has selected one of its own to lead the association to a new level of sustainable growth and success, its President announced.
 
“Considering the large number of highly accomplished business leaders who entered this competition, I am excited to announce that our Board of Directors has selected Kevin Thistle to lead the PGA of Canada into an exciting new era of success,” Steve Wood, President of the Board of Directors of the PGA of Canada announced.

After much research and a lot of interesting background work, the folks at Golf Canada have compiled a fascinating interactive map of Canada showing the history of golf course locations across the country dating from 1873 to the present.

The storied legacy of Canadian golf courses is presented through an interactive website mapping out 143 years of Canadian golf course history from coast to coast.

Canadian Bob Vokey was born in Verdun, Quebec in 1939. His father, Walter, was a precision tool and die maker, an avid golfer and constant tinkerer of golf equipment. Bob did not necessarily share his father's passion for golf as a child, but he observed and assisted in his father's club creations.

Bob, at 25 left Montreal for the United States and settled in Carlsbad, California. Despite his earlier feelings toward golf, he became smitten with the game and wanted to become involved in some way. He lived near a golf course, and started to play competitively, eventually developing his father's passion for "tinkering" with golf clubs.

Canadian Brooke Henderson made light of the challenging conditions on Monday to run away from the field and claim the MCKAYSON New Zealand Open by five shots.

Henderson, the world No. 12, had looked the class act of the field all week in Auckland. The 20-year-old claimed her fifth LPGA title – and second of the year - with sizzling rounds of 65, 70, 67 and a remarkable 69 in extremely challenging conditions over Sunday and Monday as stormy weather sent the tournament into a fifth day.

Picking up her round Monday after competing just six holes on Sunday as rain and thunderstorms lashed the Windross Farm course, Henderson made light of the still gusty conditions to see off challenges from China’s Jing Yan (-12) and Korea’s Hee Young Park (-11).

TORONTO – The inaugural adaptive golf competition of the Invictus Games took place Tues, Sept. 26, at St. George’s Golf and Country Club, where Canadians claimed five medals.

The competition was contested over 18 holes using modified Stableford scoring using Handicap Factors/Index.

Claiming gold in the men’s competition with a 38-point total was David Scott of the United Kingdom. Canada’s Étienne Aubé claimed silver with 37 points. Canadians Dan Graham and Jay Nickol earned bronze with 35 points, as did American Josh Lindstrom.

[RICHMOND, B.C., Sept. 14, 2017]—Marc-Etienne Bussieres parlayed an incredible final nine holes at Richmond Country Club into a win at the PGA Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf.

Bussieres closed with a final-round 6-under-par 66, making an eagle and three birdies over the final nine holes to chase down and eventually pass his good friend Sonny Michaud.

He wasn’t happy with the way he finished his round, but Kimberley’s Jared du Toit hung on to win Canadian Player of the Year honours on the PGA Tour Canada-Mackenzie Tour circuit.

That award, sponsored by Freedom 55 Financial, carries a hefty $25,000 bonus and du Toit said it helped soothe the frustration he was feeling about ending his round Sunday with three straight bogeys.

Du Toit closed with an even-par 70 to finish the season-ending Freedom 55 Financial Championship in London, Ont., at 10-under par and tied for 17th place. He finished the season 23rd on the money list with $26,233, although he made more than that in unofficial money on Sunday.
